We were in JB for the wedding of my husband’s cousin. Doesn’t she look lovely?

The mister started a Lamborghini contribution fund at the office. He managed to
collect RM15 in change, a keychain, a dice, a biscuit & best of all, a picture of a
Lamborghini! Our cat doesn’t look impressed but he had fun playing with the dice.

And finally, I was on NTV7’s Breakfast Show yesterday! Did you catch me? To my left
is the uproariously funny Naz & to my right is the vivacious Satira who are both the
hosts of the show. I had a blast with them & showed them how to make an earring
(while shaking quite bad though ahahaha!).

Yours truly had the honor to be on Bella of channel NTV7 a couple of weeks ago with Michelle of Kinder Soaps. We were interviewed by the effervescent Daphne Iking & shared with her our DIY passion. I showed Daphne some of the things we’ve whipped up during our HandmadeKL craft parties like refashioning old tshirts & how to make your own sugar body scrub (which Daphne is holding up in the picture above), while Michelle actually made soap on set! How cool is that?

I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I’d be on a LIVE show because Daphne made it a lot of fun & it turns out she actually has quite a lot in common with Michelle & I as she loves to craft too! We chatted during commercials so when the cameras were back on it just felt like we were continuing the conversation & we were showing a friend how we do our crafts. It was only after the whole thing that it sunk how Daphne was such a fantastic host that she was able to keep us from feeling nervous & kept the whole conversation bubbly & fun! I am officially in awe of show hosts now. It’s not an easy job eh?

Oh and before I forget, shout out to Hazie, Albert & the rest of the Bella crew for being wonderfully nice & so accommodating. You guys rock!

Vote For Me! Cosmo Malaysia FFF

This is a little late but guess who was nominated to be in this year’s Cosmopolitan Malaysia’s Fun, Fearless & Fabulous finalist? Yup, that smiling mug above is yours (chubby) truly. Thank you Naziehah for your nomination & Anida for being so awesome during the photo shoot! I learned that posing without any props whatsoever has got to be one of the most awkward thing ever & that I AM VERY AWKWARD as pictured above & below! :P

My awkwardness aside, Cosmopolitan Malaysia does this FFF competition annually by compiling 12 inspiring women from all walks of life who embody fun, fearlessness & fabulousity (to borrow a term from Kimora). I feel so very honored to be nominated alongside such impressive women who are at the top of their chosen careers, not to mention a little intimidated! Although being called a “craft activist” is pretty awesome & I loved it when Anida asked me what do I think makes a woman awesome (the ability to love, dream big, create adventures & a great sense of humor of course!). I’m grinning from ear to ear as I type this by the way. Hehehe.

Mimpi Murni ♥ I.M. Magazine

I seem to be saying this more & more these days, and every time I type these words I tell myself to not let it happen again but eventually my schedule gets crazier & I can’t keep up. So here I am again saying, sorry for leaving you hanging folks! Raya is getting closer & more custom orders are coming in so I’ll try to blog when I can. I really miss surfing the internet, looking for interesting things to share & spreading more love for all things beautiful & crafty.

July was so crazy that this totally slipped my mind to blog about (although I tweeted & Instagramed it! Hehe): I was featured in Her World magazine for my lip balms & a work in progress, solid perfumes!  Along with Michelle of Kinder Soaps & Majorie of Pom Poms, we were featured last July for 3 ladies who make our own beauty products. I was on the Open For Business show with the famous Internet Marketer Irfan Khairi (coincidentally, my father's hero) who gave me lots of good advice about expanding my business, building an e-commerce website DIY style & "letting go"... you'll see what I mean when you listen to the podcast!

As before, I had a lot of fun on the show with Freda who is the host & I must say that the BFM listeners are really helpful as I've been getting lots of emails with great tips & advice. Keep them coming folks! I was also very pleased to find that despite his millions, Irfan was extremely nice & oh so humble not to mention a goldmine of information.

Mimpi ♥ BFM Radio

Did you catch me live on BFM 89.9 yesterday? In case you didn't, here's the podcast if you want to have a little listen of me chatting with the lovely Freda Liu about all things Mimpi Murni.

I have to say chatting (and really, that was all it was) with Freda was a lot of fun as she was awfully friendly & it helped heaps that she personally likes my designs. She even had me remake Maduri for her to purchase which she wore straight away before & during the show! I love it when that happens. Katja, also on the BFM team, who I exchanged emails with prior to the show was really helpful too & helped me calm down before the show. So yeah, I really couldn't have asked for a better experience as it was my first time on radio. I just hope I don't sound like such a ditzy space cadet as I tend to when I'm put on the spot! Hehehe.

Oh, I have to say a huge THANK YOU to Michelle of The Kinder Soap Company who hooked me up with BFM  in the first place! Michelle is truly a generous soul & when I grow up, I want to be just like her ;)

2009

Although 2009 has given me some really awesome news & wonderful experiences, I've also had plenty of disappointments & sadness especially towards the end of this year. To be quite honest with you, I can't wait to put this year behind me. I know I only share with you all my happiest moments (being featured in Malaysian Women's Weekly, interviewed on NTV7's Breakfast Show, Urbanscapes, Chic Pop, etc.) & nothing really personal but a lot of negative things went down too that I chose not to share. Why you ask? Well, Mimpi Murni is a very positive part of my life & all of you have contributed greatly to that positivity so I guess in a way, I didn't want to bring down that positivity with tints of sadness. After all, Mimpi Murni is & always will be special to me & I make a conscious effort everyday to keep it that way despite whatever happens. I sincerely hope this reflects here in this little ol' blog.

And so, I can't wait for 2010 to roll in! Bring on more good news, more reasons to be happy & I will gladly embrace it with open arms & an open heart. In the meantime, I look forward to spending some time tonight with the love of my life over some nice wine & good laughs.

Mimpi ♥ Personal Money Magazine

Yup, that's me looking decidedly sleepy in Personal Money magazine! The interview with Siew May from the magazine, which is an offshoot of The Edge, was really fun (I seriously wasn't sleepy at the time k!) & really had me thinking about the web tools I use to promote Mimpi. Quite honestly, I really didn't give it a second thought till the interview itself & after reading the article I learnt quite a bit about myself & how much more efficiently I can run this little online business. So thanks a lot Siew May for not only giving Mimpi some press but making me rethink my strategy!

In case you didn't already know, Personal Money is a Malaysian personal finance magazine that aims to provide independent and objective news and information to help readers manage their finances better. A monthly magazine, Personal Money covers all aspects of managing one's personal finances such as investments, financial planning, managing your own business, smart spending and the use of technology and the Internet to better manage personal finances.

Don't you think it's time to pick up a copy? ;)

DIY Fun!

Claudia Low of KLue just posted a great little write up all about DIY Fun! To quote Claudia: "DIY projects not only enable you to get things done while saving cash, it also empowers you. If a project turns out well, you can even start your own business and make profits from it! Just remember to think unique!" Hear, hear!! I couldn't agree more!

Claudia cited some great websites that specialize in all things DIY like Instructables (my fave go-to site for crafts), DoItYourself (a new discovery for me, thanks KLue!), Etsy (a site I spend waaaaay too much money at buying all sorts of greats handicrafts from around the world!) & Fire Mountain Gems (a great place to buy jewelry findings & beads!). Another personal fave of mine which I'd like to add is Threadbanger. Go check all these great sites for tonnes of DIY ideas & materials!

Oh, and thanks again to Claudia & KLue for making my day by mentioning Mimpi! I ♥ KLue a whole lot!

Hey fellow dreamers. I adore Breakfast at Tiffany's don't you? Anyways, I just wanted to pop in before I head on out to Sri Pentas for my spot on the Breakfast Show on NTV7 (eep!) & to give you all a head's up just in case you haven't been paying attention to my not-so-subtle hints all week... Mimpi will be at YOUTH'09 happening at PWTC from today till Sunday (9 - 11 Jan) & so this blog shop will be closed but will reopen on Monday (12 Jan). So hold your emails till then or hey, drop by PWTC & come check Mimpi out in person.

Anyways, wish me luck & pray that I don't turn into a blubbering idiot on LIVE national TV today!

Must Remember To

All I want to do right now is dump everything & head to a nice sunny beach somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do for a living but boy, I'll be glad when I finish preparing for YOUTH'09 then hopefully I'll be able to catch up with my sleep sometime soon.

In other news, I'll be on the Breakfast Show on NTV7 tomorrow morning! I honestly can't even begin to tell you how nervous I'm feeling right now. Wish me luck & fortitude!

It's been a crazy year for me. Here's my 2008, short & sweet:

+ I sort of officially launched Mimpi at Bijou Bazaar. Yay!
+ I made it into KLue twice (Second time has yet to be posted... eeps!)
+ Made it into Malaysian Today too
+ I was on 20 Questions
+ Was on Astro Awani's Wanita Untuk Wanita thanks to Bijou Bazaar!
+ I became a PADI certified scuba diver!
+ I went white water rafting twice this year
+ I got to go to India (my dream destination!)
+ A hamster showed up at my doorstep
+ so much more...

Like I said, it's been crazy... but wonderful. I'm awfully grateful for the numerous blessing & lessons bestowed this year & so with an open mind & an open heart, I look forward to what 2009 has to offer.

This is how I spent New Year's Eve last year. I think it's going to look pretty much the same this year as we're spending it with our close buddies. Hope you're gonna have fun tonight too. Be safe & Happy New Year!
