Bye Bye

Just a quick note to let you know that I'll be away from today 30th June till 6th July but fret not, I've scheduled daily posts for your reading pleasure so it'll be just like I was still around. Yay! Do note though that all orders can only be processed by 7th July.

Hope you all have a lovely week ahead. Be good now!

Clouds

I'm so loving cloud imagery right now for some reason. These cute little stationery are made by a Swedish home/office product maker kikki.k. Make sure you check out their website for more adorable goodies.

Yellow Treehouse Restaurant

Nestled high up in a redwood is the Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in New Zealand. The 18-seat cafe overlooks the forest and a stream below. It was design by Environments Architects Ltd. as part of a considerably massive marketing campaign by Yellow Pages. The restaurant is for hire only and currently booked solid.

Urbanscapes 2009

Setting up my table

Elda & Zuien

Me & Dee

It's Monday & I'm still exhausted from Urbanscapes. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who dropped by my tent (I didn't know I was getting a whole tent to myself! Woohoo!) & muchos gracias to Farhan who not only took the time out to hang out with me most of the day (he totally kicked my ass in cards) but who also took the pictures you see above. I would've taken pictures myself but if I wasn't busy setting up & straightening up, it was too hot to move then there were just soooo many people! Wave after wave of people poured into the grounds of KLPac so much so that all I got to see of Urbanscapes was the Marketplace & the ladies toilet! Not that I'm complaining though since I had lots of fun right at my tent too.

Thanks again folks & hope you enjoyed yourself at Urbanscapes too! Oh, and you can check out more pictures of Urbanscapes right here.

Cartonlandia

Cartonlandia by Ana Serrano was made with - guess what? Cartons of course! Look at all the tiny little details she incorporated into this mini town. It's stuff like this that really inspires me to achieve wonderful crafting heights. Yay to inspirations!

Mimpi ♥ Urbanscapes

If you haven't already heard about Urbanscapes which is KL's biggest all-day creative arts festival, then I suggest you come out from under that rock. I've been gearing up for it since I heard about it back in April & I'm so incredibly excited you can probably see me vibrate right about now.

There's gonna be live music in an outdoor stage setting, non-stop live & acoustic music & partying at the Box, collaborative musical performances & full-length local feature film screening, eclectic performances & DJs as the sun goes down, visuals & installation art, photography, multimedia & design exhibitions, a showcase of local independent shorts films & experimental videos, a variety of improv theater, stand up comedy & various performances & last but not least, over 100 stalls featuring cool clothes & arts & crafts! Whew, what a mouthful!

This will be the first time Mimpi will be taking part so do swing by to show me some lovin' at the Freeform Zone near the KLue booth & Zouk Barsonic tents. I have lots of new goodies, DISCOUNTS (woohoo!) & more surprises up my sleeve so make sure you don't miss out!!

Time: 12pm - 12am (The Marketplace will close at 10pm)
Venue: KLPac, Sentul West (I'll be in booth no.2,
near the KLue booth & Zouk Barsonic tents)
Main event website

Hope to see you there! XOXO

Moonwalker

Wow. Were you as shocked as I was when you first heard about Michael Jackson dying? After the whole fiasco last year I thought he was going to come back in a blaze of glory but looks like someone up there had different plans. I bet you they'll be lots of MJ sightings just like when Elvis died. Anyways, I will always remember him before he became a punchline. RIP Moonwalker.

And hey, as you all know I'm all about DIY so here's a neat little video tutorial of how to moonwalk like Michael Jackson. Have fun trying it out!

Unicorn Ladies

Look! Not one but TWO unicorns!! Oh wait... They're just hats! Darn.

DIY 9 Hole Buttons

Why 9 Hole Buttons you ask? Well, with all those extra holes you can actually stitch letters to spell out your name for example! How cool is that?! Here's the link to the tutorial to make your very own 9 hole buttons.

Mendocino

More Heather Ross fabric lovin' folks! The ones pictured here are from her Mendocino line for FreeSpirit which appeals to the diver in me. I'd love to make a little bikini cover up with the mermaid print above or the seahorse one below.

Far Far Away

I'm so in love with these Far Far Away fabrics by Heather Ross. If you love your fairy tales such as The Princess & The Pea or The Frog Prince, you're just gonna go nuts over these prints - they're just so fantastically whimsical & sweet! Can't wait to get my hands on them.

New Designs & A Promo!

June has proven to be one busy month for me & it's only gonna get busier & busier but I somehow managed to update the blogshop albeit a little later than usual. Do check out Earrings, Necklaces, Bracelets & More! I'm especially excited over my Rama-Rama hippy hair ties which you can see pictured below.

Will definitely try to take a picture modeling the hair ties to give you a better idea of how to wear these simple yet lovely hair ties. I made a few to sell at the last ASD Bazaar & Bijou Bazaar & they sold quite fast so take my word for it, they're really lovely.

Anyways, to coincide with the update I'm offering a little promo. Check it out below...

Terms & Conditions:
♥ The discount only applies to all AVAILABLE items & for orders totaling RM100 & above.
♥ The discount does not apply to special request remakes, custom orders or orders of less than RM100.

Mimpi ♥ Fashion Republik

Thank you Fashion Republik for the lovely review! I'm awfully flattered as I love reading this particular review blog that covers a plethora of subjects & not just fashion. Go check it out folks!

Dream Boat

Some more canopy/tent lovin' folks! This shot reminded me so much of the make shift tents I used to make in my room as a kid but this one is waaaay better as it floats! Definitely something an adult Murni could pull off too... I honestly think I could spend all day floating & dreaming in this little boat under a canopy of colorful blankets. Ah, bliss!

Mimpi ♥ Personal Money Magazine

Yup, that's me looking decidedly sleepy in Personal Money magazine! The interview with Siew May from the magazine, which is an offshoot of The Edge, was really fun (I seriously wasn't sleepy at the time k!) & really had me thinking about the web tools I use to promote Mimpi. Quite honestly, I really didn't give it a second thought till the interview itself & after reading the article I learnt quite a bit about myself & how much more efficiently I can run this little online business. So thanks a lot Siew May for not only giving Mimpi some press but making me rethink my strategy!

In case you didn't already know, Personal Money is a Malaysian personal finance magazine that aims to provide independent and objective news and information to help readers manage their finances better. A monthly magazine, Personal Money covers all aspects of managing one's personal finances such as investments, financial planning, managing your own business, smart spending and the use of technology and the Internet to better manage personal finances.

Don't you think it's time to pick up a copy? ;)

Forest Bound

Now you all have got to know by now that I'm a big fan of vintage, repurposed & handmade crafty products. So I bet you can imagine my delight when I spotted these bags by Forest Bound made with World War II era army duffel bags & laundry bags & accented with antique lace plus recycled woven leather straps! Unfortunately everything in the shop has been sold out so I'll be waiting anxiously for them to restock.

Canopy Party

This is my idea of the perfect party - in a field of wildflowers, lots of color & with just 7 of your nearest & dearest. It doesn't get much better than this.

Joojoo

I'm not sure why, but I'm really loving these snails by Joojoo. I think I like them because they're just so whimsically cute, don't you think? She uses polymer clay & real snail shells for her creations & I'm especially loving the teeny tiny hand painted details as illustrated below. The snails come with an embedded magnet so you can stick them anywhere. A good idea or what?!

DIY Recycled Frame Jewelry Holder

I'm assuming all you people who visit this blog either love jewelry (ahem) or enjoy DIY arts & crafts so here's a little something to combine BOTH! Make your own jewelry holder with an old, unloved photo frame or mirror, a little chicken wire, fabric, hot glue & elbow grease to display your lovely jewelry collection (hopefully all from Mimpi! Hehehe). Click here for the tutorial.

The Unbearable Lightness Of Being

Alinka Echeverría's series of photographs entitled the Unbearable Lightness Of Being really made me stop in my tracks & just stare with my mouth hanging open. You should really check out the video too - it gave me goosebumps! As (I hope) you can see, the photos features stunning shots of synchronized swimmers underwater doing their thing. Simply stunning!

Hello

You have got to admire people who are not only creative but also persistent. That sign was made with lots of buttons & glue. That's it. I'm exhausted just looking at it.

I don't know about you folks but I'm a sucker for clever packaging & this little idea is coupled with recycling at its best! Turn a plain paper bag into an origami animal of your choice with simple step by step instructions.

Taking Woodstock

Woodstock rocks & I love the idealism & activism that the 70s represent! Can't wait to watch the movie "Taking Woodstock" but who knows if Malaysian censors will pass it. Sigh.

Nothing Elegant

I'm seriously crushing on this shop, Nothing Elegant. Now all I think about is the potential cuteness of having little hot air balloons hanging in my craft room, writing in prettily colored notebooks, using colored masking tapes just because I can & leaving little love notes with adorable kitschy post it notes. Love it!
