Remember when I blogged about revisiting one of my favorite childhood movies? Well, The Last Unicorn was another & still is a firm favorite of mine. Watching it always made me cry buckets & it still does... Just watching the video above made me cry too! I'm such a cry baby.
I recently read the book too & am delighted that the producer & director of the movie kept very true to the book & translated it very well for the silver screen which is such a rare thing. I'm hoping to find the movie somewhere here in KL but I think I might have to resort to Amazon. Wish me luck!
Hey ya lovelies! Parasol is a PDF magazine that you can download for FREE here. It's "dedicated to featuring established and emerging designers and artists as well as segments on creative lifestyles and small business owners." Brilliant! Heather Benning's art piece entitled "Dollhouse" was actually created from an old, abandoned farmhouse right in the middle of a field somewhere with one of its walls cut open & sealed with plexiglass to give that quintessential dollhouse view.
Didn't you always wish you could step into a dollhouse? Well, I did & didn't realise till I saw these pictures that I still do!
If you've had to deal with cleaning a stinky pet bed, I'm sure you're gonna be as excited as I was when I first saw this great idea on MadeByGirl. Here's an excerpt I took off MadeByGirl:
"Molly Mutt is way more than just a dog bed company, they have made a revolutionary dog duvet & stuff sack that defines green living for your pet. These duvets are a great way to keep old stuff/clothing/towels/cushions from ending up in landfills (Roughly 8% of all landfill mass is textiles), while giving your pup a cool & clean place to sleep!"
How cool is this idea? And for you crafty mavens out there, you can even make it yourself with the DIY Kit by Molly Mutt! I'm loving this ingenious idea more and more.

“A limited and numbered edition of 250 handmade boxes, lined with Italian (Rossi) and English (Beaumonde) papers. All cards are printed in fine paper and have special details, as varnish, foil, emboss, etc. Each box has 8 cards and 8 envelopes, wrapped in tissue paper.”

Thought I'd share with you this great concept of eco-friendly envelopes which you be reused & resent over & over again.
How it works: The re-velope is stitched together sailcloth material. It is sealed with double sided sticky tape and if you wanted to, you could stitch it closed for extra security. The original re-velope has a window on the front with a slit in the back where you slide in a piece of paper with the address and return address. Stamps go on the front, as normal, and you can either peel them off or stick more on top for the next time around. And, unless you write a really long letter, the re-velope mails with regular postage. (Info taken off here)
What a great way to save the environment right? Check out the Re-velope's website for purchasing info if you're interested. I know I am!
I just got my free sample kit from Everyday Minerals yesterday & I'm loving it so far! Yeah, I know I'm a little late joining the mineral makeup bandwagon but I have my makeup ritual down to a science so I was very reluctant to try anything else. That is until Siew May with her flawless skin told me she was wearing mineral makeup & that she got it for free. Ding ding ding!
And so I quickly checked out the Everyday Minerals website (great layout by the way) & added my free sample kit to my cart which allowed me to pick 3 sample sized foundation shades in different formulations, 1 blusher & 1 concealer. All I had to do was pay for shipping which was only USD4.55... it's a steal I tell ya!
I love the fact that there are only FIVE ingredients in the foundation & everything is natural.... no chemicals, no preservative & most importantly, no animal testing! I also love love love the weightless feel of the makeup on me. It doesn't look cakey & I've had to do only ONE touch up the whole day yesterday! I might have to go a shade lighter for my foundation though (all the more reason to order more samples!) but I'm really in love with the blush & concealer which I will definitely order full size.
I highly recommend that you try it out yourself. Thanks for the awesome tip Siew May!
Here's what I ordered in case you're wondering: 1 foundation in Golden Fawn (Original Glo), 1 foundation in Beige Sun Kissed Fair (Semi Matte), 1 foundation in Buff Fairly Light Neutral (Matte), 1 blusher in Snuggle & 1 concealer in Intensive Concealer Fair. The foundation in Golden Fawn suits me the best but like I said I might have to go a shade lighter. The blusher & concealer suits me to the tee though so I'm a very happy camper.
I don't think you all know that I'm a big tea drinker. Be it black, green, white, herbal or fruity I've probably had a sip or two before. Being a big fan of all things kitschy as well I've fallen hard for these tea pot set designs by Shinzi Katoh. I want the rabbit for myself. So cute.
Creative Park is the place to go for some of the sweetest free printables & paper crafts folks. I actually found this Japanese website awhile back (no fear, there's a language option) but I wasn't terribly impressed. However, when Creature Comforts featured these lovely new prints above I had to go back for a second look & was pleasantly surprised as they have a few new things that I really, really like. I'm especially loving this piece of stationery, envelope liner, origami bunnies, Little Red Riding Hood mini theatre(!) & illustration by Miyuki Ohashi.
More reasons to fold cranes as blogged here & here! I love the colors & simplicity of this wonderful idea. I really should start folding those cranes....
I must be on a sugar high or something. Anyways, these sugar cookies by Eleni's NYC are almost too pretty to eat (I can never say no to a cookie) & the detailing is simply divine.

These sweet little gocco prints by Denise Ann Holmes are so up my alley. I can imagine them hanging over my desk where I can daydream about tripping around flower fields. Love it!
Spotted via Design Is Mine & can be bought here at Bakers Dozen which carries works in limited editions of 13 by artists/makers from around the world.
Guess what I found? The NeverEnding Story movie on YouTube! It's broken up into a series of 9 though but it only took me less than an hour to download everything while I was answering emails & sending out invoices! I just finished watching the whole thing & I can safely say that I've fallen in love with it all over again. Here are the links:
I'm still going to look out for the DVD though so that I can watch it from a larger screen with surround sound. This time I'm going to drive the boyfriend nuts by making him watch it with me over & over again! Muahahaha
I've just revisited a childhood favorite of mine. Perhaps you remember it too?
I just finished reading the book & I'm now itching to watch the movie. Admittedly I actually didn't know the movie was based on the book which was written by Michael Ende until I stumbled across it at Kinokuniya yesterday while looking for a kid's birthday present. The book was published in 1979, translated from German in 1983 & the movie was made in 1984 (mostly shot in Germany by the way).
Anyways, it's great to know that I now have the book which is "Fantastica" by the way (pun intended). I'm picking up The Last Unicorn next at Kinokuniya.
Happy Easter everyone! I'm off to stuff my face with yummy chocolate Easter Bunnies but before I do, here's a free download of a lovely Easter card from Benign Objects.
I've blogged before about having my socks charmed off Kokokaina aka Zee Avi. Well, now she's in the States & releasing her album really soon! I can't wait!

Because I had a high school crush on Drew Barrymore (no, I'm not a lesbian) I was drawn to check out a trailer posted on Ladies & Gentlemen starring Jessica Lange & my former crush. The trailer above is for the HBO movie Grey Gardens & is based on the original 1975 documentary of the same name.
Having never even heard of Grey Gardens in the first place & totally intrigued by the trailer, I did a little research & came up with this:
Grey Gardens is the unbelievable but true story of Mrs. Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edie, the aunt and first cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Mother and daughter live in a world of their own behind the towering privets that surround their decaying 28-room East Hampton mansion known as "Grey Gardens," a place so far gone that the local authorities once threatened to evict them for violating building and sanitation codes. The incident made national headlines -- American royalty, living in squalor! For the Beales were nothing short of the upper crust. Mrs. Beale, a.k.a. "Big Edie," was a born aristocrat, sister of "Black Jack" Bouvier, Jackie O's father. "Little Edie" was an aspiring actress of striking beauty who put her New York life on hold to care for her mother - and never left her side again. Together they descended into a strange life of dependence and eccentricity that no one had ever shared until the Maysles arrived with their camera and tape recorder.
The Beales were ready for their close-ups. Little Edie -- a still-attractive woman at 56 -- parades about coquettishly in her trademark improvised turbans (her wildly original ensembles inspired a 9-page fashion spread in a 1998 issue of Harper's Bazaar and a 1999 issue of Italian Vogue), reminisces about her brilliant past, still hoping that her Big Chance and Big Romance are just around the corner. Big Edie, trained soprano in her bohemian days, trills romantic songs of yesteryear in a slightly wobbly, but still rich voice. The women bicker, prattle, and flirt like characters out of Tennessee Williams or Eugene O'Neill. The film is a bittersweet love story, a record of the powerful and complex relationship between mother and daughter.
How sad, but oh so fascinating. Here's hoping that Astro will release the movie here in Malaysia. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Ok. So F1 last Sunday at Sepang was wet. Really wet. The race was suspended 23 laps in (of which we probably got to see 5 laps because of the horrendous jam on the way to Sepang) but man, Jamiroquai's concert was soooo worth enduring the disappointment of the race, the rain & the MUD at the helipad field where the concert was held.
Even the opening acts for Jamiroquai were fantastic: Maliq & D'Essentials featuring Atilia, DJ outfit Twilight Actiongirl & Naturally 7 totally rocked. But ofcourse, everyone was there to see Jamiroquai & gosh darn it, they did not disappoint. Jay Kay, the band's front man, was at his energetic best & watching him spin around the stage, singing all my fave songs which I've been loving since high school, made me continually break out in goosebumps & scream like a boyband crazed teenager.
Needless to say, I am now super exhausted from all that dancing & tripping around a mud filled field, but oh-so-incredibly happy to have been able to make one of my long-cherished dreams come true in watching Jamiroquai perform live. You might as well pinch me, I must still be dreaming!
Saw this Donkey stuffie tutorial on The Storque & just had to share it with you. Click here for the complete instructions + template. I can't wait to make a sweet little donkey for friend's little girl. And possibly for me too. Hehehe.
