That Last Slice x Mimpi Murni Collaboration!

 
That’s right folks! I teamed up with cake maven Aishah of That Last Slice to come up with a sweet little something especially for this festive season: sugar cookies with customised Selamat Hari Raya messages packed in a fabric box & topped with a grosgrain ribbon!

Aishah is well-known in KL for her yummy cakes so when she approached me late last month before Ramadhan to help her come up with a packaging for her specially made, limited edition cookies, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I am after all a dessert maniac so this is like my dream project!




The sugar cookies are made with the best quality ingredients & customized with Selamat Hari Raya messages in assorted colors & in two different shapes. There are heart shaped cookies in bright happy colors with the message “Salam Aidilfitri” & scalloped rectangular cookies in sweet pastel colors with the message “Selamat Hari Raya.” I can attest to the fact that these cookies not only look good but are very, very yummy as are all of Aishah’s delectable creations!

In all honesty, it took me a good long while to come up with this idea to make the fabric box packaging. I wanted something that was useful yet looked just as good as Aishah’s cookies so it took quite a bit of trial & error before these boxes were made. They are made with two layers of Japanese cotton fabric & are reversible. You can fold down the top of the boxes to any height you want & as they are soft, they can hold almost any shape of items. I’ve made a bunch of these boxes for myself to hold my little trinkets & bits and bobs around my house so I find them exceedingly useful as I hope you will too :)

Looks like this week I'm going to be busier than usual with last minute Raya orders, so I'm going to hunker down & bulldoze ahead. Till then, I hope you guys can bear with me. I'll blog when I can but I promise I will be back real soon.

The picture above was from a couple of nights ago when the husband broke into his secret (albeit illegal) stash of fireworks. We can't wait to spend our first Raya together as husband & wife as we even have color coordinated baju kurung & baju Melayu!

Cranky Princess Art Prints

Here’s a little something I came across today that totally made me happy. Heather Ross, who designs & illustrates the cutest textiles in the world has come up with these Limited Edition Cranky Princess Art Prints. I’m especially in love with the Princess & Pea illustration but they’re sold out, so I’m crossing my fingers & toes hoping she’ll reprint it soon. Cute right?

Mimpi Murni ♥ I.M. Magazine

I seem to be saying this more & more these days, and every time I type these words I tell myself to not let it happen again but eventually my schedule gets crazier & I can’t keep up. So here I am again saying, sorry for leaving you hanging folks! Raya is getting closer & more custom orders are coming in so I’ll try to blog when I can. I really miss surfing the internet, looking for interesting things to share & spreading more love for all things beautiful & crafty.

DIY: Washi Tape Magnet

Like most avid crafters, I love washi tape. If you haven’t already heard of it, I’d like to invite you to crawl out from under that rock & welcome you to the wonderful world of Japanese masking tape. What is essentially pretty, patterned rolls of gampi paper with a slightly sticky side, washi tape is cute yet tough & I use it on just about anything I can get away with. If you’re anything like me, then these magnet washi tapes made by twirlingbetty are sure to get you excited. She even made a lovely tutorial so that you can do it yourself! Have a looksee & while you’re at it, also check out Ira’s equally fantastic tutorial which has step-by-step pictures to help those of you who are more visually inclined. Have fun!

You all know I have a soft spot for paper cut art right? Well, I think I found my ultimate paper cut artist crush: Julene Harrison of Made by Julene fame. I love how the Gin & Jacquie describes her artistry… “The intricacy of her hands in story-telling motion and shards of sweet images astounds the heart. July was so crazy that this totally slipped my mind to blog about (although I tweeted & Instagramed it!
