Bali was great although very tiring. Work was a little hectic but I managed to squeeze in a trip to a sumptuous spa, a full day tour of some of the major spots (historical as well as new) and of course, did a fair bit of shopping! Now I need a holiday for my holiday.
These are just some of the pictures I took with my phone on the first day. Now I just have to figure out how to upload the pictures from my camera to the laptop without a cable and a faulty SD card reader. Hmmmm...

Leave Me a Message...
... after the beep! I'm off to Bali tomorrow! It's for work though so no need to drool with envy now.
Do drop me an email as I'll be checking daily and please note that all deliveries will be postponed till after I get back next Tuesday. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
To make it up to you, I'll add a little something from Bali in each package ordered between 18 - 25 March 2008.

Sunburst/Rainburst
An outdoor music festival with 4 stages, 26 live acts and free games for everyone!
Here's the official website and here's a great review. I'm still trying to catch up with orders right now to bother writing a full review myself but be assured that I only have glowing praises for the event even though it rained and had very poor signage (a common Malaysian problem). Anyways, I can't wait for next year's festival...

Little Surprise (Part 2)
Read Part 1 first...
So my little-intrepid-hammie-formerly-known-as-Kamikaze (who upon further inspection is actually a girl-hamster and has since been renamed Biscuit) made herself comfy in her makeshift enclosure but my mom who is terrified of anything resembling a rat insisted that Biscuit should not stay in the house. Crestfallen, I regarded my options:
1) I could give Biscuit to my neighbor with the 3 little boys. They live nearby and I can always visit the little critter. Only problem is I'm not too sure how responsible these 3 little boys are and I don't think the parents will be too involved in keeping a hamster...
2) I could also give Biscuit to a friend of mine. My friend is very, very responsible and loves animals so I know Biscuit will have a wonderful life with him. But, he lives soooooo far away and I'll never get a chance to see Biscuit ever again.
2) Plead, beg and grovel at my boyfriend's feet to let me keep Biscuit at his apartment.
For reasons I have yet to fathom, I decided to plead, beg and grovel, and hey, it worked! It took awhile for him to warm up to the idea but when I dragged him to go shopping together for a proper enclosure, he got excited seeing all the fancy tubes and play-things made specially for hamsters. Men and gadgets are a good mix I say.
Now he wants to build a Hamster Shangri-la and insisted that we get another girl-hamster to accompany our lone Biscuit (girls need to chit chat ya'know). For the record, I'm all for hamsters who can live happily ever after with each other (and there are exceptions) but based on my previous experience with hamsters yonks ago (I was 12), I had a bad feeling that the hamsters (especially Syrian hamsters) shouldn't be caged together. But the guy in the pet shop insisted it was OK especially with females, and my boyfriend was persistent so I thought, hey I could be wrong...
Needless to say, Biscuit wasn't too happy. Many squeaks of protest were made along with uncalled for nipping convinced the boyfriend that Syrian hamsters do not get along regardless of sex or lack thereof. Heh.
I headed to the pet shop the next day and got Cookie the new hamster (Cookie and Biscuit geddit??) her own digs. Luckily we didn't splash out and bought a fancy schmancy hamster enclosure the day before as it looks like we'll have to figure out how to fit two entirely separate enclosures in the small space we have available for our hammies.
I'll take some pictures soon to show you my new babies. Although they don't get along together, they're very sweet with me and my boyfriend, enjoy running around the boyfriend's little enclosed patio when we let them out, and looove strawberries, grapes + potato bun.
More soon!

A Little Surprise (Part 1)
Last Friday night I decided to stay at home and watch some DVDs (King of California and Eastern Promises) instead of joining the boyfriend and our friends for a birthday party. I wasn't feeling all that well and needed some time to just veg out as my week was pretty crazy, and quite frankly, I looove vegging out.
So there I am in my room, at one with my TV, DVD player and bed, when my mom knocks insistently on my door. Being my mother's daughter, I can tell by the knocking that something's up.
"Yeeeaaaahhh Ma???"
"One of the cats brought back a mouse!"
Oh great, I internally grumble. I'm going to have to pick up and bury yet another poor little field mouse as my mom is absolutely terrified of any and all rodents.
I open the door and my mom is still outside my door, waiting for me and looking very concerned.
"Where's the mouse Ma?"
"It's at the corridor outside.... it's a very cute little white and brown mouse and it's still alive so HURRY UP!"
Cute little white and brown mouse? Huh? The field mice the cats bring home (they don't eat the mice but bring them home already dead to show off I guess) are always dark brown or black. But I suddenly snap out of that thought and realize that one live white and brown mouse + 6 of our resident cats = not good.
I rush out in my (thank goodness) nice panties and t-shirt with a hastily found shoe box and find a HAMSTER with its back to a wall, totally still, surrounded by 6 very curious but luckily well-fed cats.
Fifi, our calico long-haired kitty, was prodding the little hamster inquisitively and thoughts of witnessing a hamster's gruesome decapitation geared me into action. I barged through the half-circle of cats and, bless the little guy, the hamster scampered towards me into the safety of the shoe box I lowered hamster-level. I went back into the house and sighed a huge sigh of relief while clutching the shoe box.
"Ma, it's a HAMSTER!"
"What??? What's it doing outside with the cats???"
"I dunno. Life must have been boring..."
She grinned at that and then expressively forbade me to open the shoe box in her presence (she's terrified remember?). So I went back into my room and took a quick little peek inside the box. Yup, it's a hamster alright.
Can you believe it? And the best part is that I've been bugging my boyfriend to get me a hamster for the last 4 months! I told my friend about this over the weekend and he suggested that I should ask for gold next time. Hehehe.
Anyways, delighted at my good GOOD good luck, I hastened to make the new addition to my family feel more comfortable. I found a large plastic box, an empty toilet roll, a jar cover to serve as a dish, added some sunflower seeds and raisins, shredded some tissue paper and finally unveiled my efforts to the hamster, which my mom had temporarily named Kamikaze.
Whoops, got to go. More of the story soon! (Psst! Check out the link below for some great hamster info)
