Mori Girls
If the word 'Quirky' were a country, it would definitely be Japan & that's why I love it! Besides it's amazing history & culture (including subculture), I'm madly in love with Japanese crafts or what is also known as Zakka. I try not to fall for things that are too kawaii but some things just can't be helped! Sigh.
Anyways, while blog hopping today, I somehow found myself in a little gem of a blogspot simply called Mori Girl. What IS a Mori Girl you find yourself asking? Well... "Mori Girls (森ガール) belong to a Japanese subculture. 'Mori' means forest in Japanese, and mori girls look like fairytale forest wanderers in their loose dresses, vintage prints and quaint accessories. Mori girls choose to live their lives on their own terms, stopping to appreciate the little things that others overlook amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life."
Intriguing, yes? Let me illustrate....
I just love the quaintness of this style! As my bestie Farhan would put it, "soooooooo Mimpi!"

Time Out Please!
I am currently buried deep in my plans for my Bertunang ceremony happening next week, so I'm going to take a break for one WHOLE week while I run around getting things ready. As you all know, I'm huge on DIY so in true indie spirit, me & my family are doing everything ourselves! And I mean everything: food, flowers, favors, decor... the works! I've come to realise that we're a bunch of crazy people but we love each other very much & have the best intentions so insyallah, everything will go as planned.
Please do have a looksee at my old posts while I'm away & heck, if you're planning your own little wedding event, mosey on over to Murni&Jamil which is a blog I set up filled with all sorts of DIY wedding ideas I've plucked from the various blogs & websites I haunt. It's in need of love & attention, but there are a whole bunch of good ideas that I'm using for my own do.
Oh, and a big HOWDY to those of you who found this little ol' blog for the first time via this month's Malaysian Women's Weekly!!! Yup, that's right, some Mimpi Murni jewelry have been featured in the magazine! Sooooo excited!! Have you seen it yet??? I need to go pick me a copy because I sure haven't. Sigh.... such is the life of a Bridezilla. Hahahaha!
In other news, right after the whole Bertunang hoopla, I'll be taking part in the upcoming ChicPOP! It's about time another installment took place right? I know a whole lot of you lovelies have been anxiously waiting to snag some great fashion buys that ChicPOP is famous for! More info here, here on Facebook & an awesome survival guide here. I can hardly wait myself!
Ok folks, I need to go focus on my Bertunang now so I hope you'll excuse me while I step out for awhile. Thank you for your patience & most importantly, your support. You all rock my socks off.
XOXO

Flower Themed Party
Ooooh look at this simple yet lovely flower themed birthday party for this lucky little girl! I love the details put into it, from the petal pinata that looks like a camellia from the bottom & the party hats right down to the little flower cupcakes resting on their "leaves".

DIY Chocolate Mudslide Cookies
While I was on the hunt for the perfect granola recipe yesterday, I came across loads of not-so-healthy-but-oh-so-good dessert recipes. One of it is this Chocolate Mudslide Cookie by Cakespy. Not only does the recipe sound so decadent (8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder AND 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips!) and super easy to whip up but the illustration above of the cookie eating the other cookie had me at hello. If you're going to make a batch of these, make sure you save me some k?

DIY Granola
I have a soft spot for granola. Especially when eaten with yogurt. Mmmmmm, I'm making myself hungry all over again!
However, store bought granola sometimes contains waaaaay too much sugar & perservatives so I've been doing a bit of research (got a little carried away hence the late post today) of great recipes so that I can whip up some for myself. That is, after this whole Bertunang madness is over!
Here's a really simple recipe I found over at Bake It Pretty thanks to Sweet Tidings. It has the awesome combination of apricots & almonds (which I LOVE!) & there's even a sweet little printable for you to stick on jars to give out your finished granola as presents! That's just perfect in my books.

Avriell's Cukur Jambul
Told you it was a short break right? Hehe.
After going all out the last couple of days over the Cukur Jambul event, I had a nice 12 hour sleep, made myself a large breakfast, ate it in bed while finally finishing My Name Is Khan, rearranged the long lasting Estoma flowers I bought for myself last week & spent a good while on YouTube watching The Beginning of Rainbowland (after reading Joyce's tweets on 80s cartoons, I just had to look up Rainbow Brite).
Anyways, here are a few pictures are a few pictures of what kept me busy since last Friday.

Anyways, here are a few pictures are a few pictures of what kept me busy since last Friday.
Here's the set up for the Cukur Jambul of beautiful baby Avriell. Cradle & standing dulang set are by the good folks of Cradle N All (talk to Kak Mas, she's a gem!) whereas the lovely lace pillows & runners are by Renai. The favors for the Marhaban group were pashmina shawls that were presented in lace "pockets" that Iwan, my new assistant, helped to sew up & little sachets of dried rosebuds & lavender by Mimpi Murni. Now I wish I took a better picture of those because they were quite a lot of work to source.
Sorry that this picture is lop-sided, I was in a huge rush so I took whatever snap shots I could. This is the VIP table gorgeously decorated by Quzandria with tea cups & dessert stands filled with all sorts of sweet things like macaroons, jelly & cupcakes. I just did the little things like placecards & decorating the favors.

Iwan & I were up till 3am the night before decorating the jars of customised Sticky rock candies & boxes of mini cupcakes by Selendang Sutera. The theme was English Tea Party so I stuck to sweet cotton prints in pastels with lace. I really love the way they look together!
There are more pictures here so do take a look although I really wish I had more time to take snap more pictures but we were really scrambling till the last moments to get it all ready. We had fun though & I really hope the customer liked the work we did.

A Short Break
Hey sweet things. As you know, I'm in the midst of planning my Bertunang which is just around the corner. To add pressure to the mix, I decided to help out a friend of my step-mother's to decorate part of her house & guests' favors for her granddaughter's Cukur Jambul happening on Wednesday! Hence, this blog is going to be a tad quiet the next couple of days as I scurry around getting things ready. I'll be back real soon! ;)
