Hey dreamers, check out my website mimpimurni.com to keep up to date with my work. The site is still a work in progress but I'm quite happy with it… at the moment that is! Being someone who designs for a living, I change things around at the drop of a hat so don't be surprised if things look a little different by the time to log onto the site. Hello, New Blog & Site Design

I decided at the spur of the moment yesterday that my blog & site could use a little sprucing up. I'm still waiting for my hosting site to properly load mimpimurni.com but here you go, some screen shots. I love the user interface & I can't wait for you to try it out!

I've cut back the clutter & I decided to go with a very clean, minimal look. My husband thinks it's all very masculine & a big departure from all the things that I've stood for so far (sweet frou frou) but I really like it! Things could use a little shaking up around here so I'm going to live with this for awhile & see how it goes. What do you think, dreamers? I could really use your input. Be brutally honest if you must. 

 

Succulents For Sale!

I was making a few samples of potted succulent gardens for this Saturday's Craft Party when it occurred to me that I'll have a heck of a lot of succulents left over at the end of the shindig! So I thought I'd better put these babies up for sale here on the blog & buyers can come pick up at the end of the Craft Party. A stroke of brilliance, if I do say so myself! :P

Just let me know which piece(s) you're interested in & I'll email you back with availability & total plus my account details for you to proceed with the payment. Yup, full payment upfront is required upon placing an order & the pick up point is at Hello Deer next to Wondermilk Uptown at 4pm. Craft Party #5

After a loooong hiatus, I think it's about time I throw another Craft Party & this time around I’m excited to throw the very first craft workshop to be held at Wondermilk's brand spanking new event venue, Hello Deer! If you’ve been following me on twitter, you’d have noticed that I’ve been obsessed with succulents (which are similar to cactuses but a lot prettier) of late & I thought I’d share my love with a lucky few craft party-goers! Here are the details:

Date: 30th June 2012 (Saturday)
Time: 2pm - 4pm
Venue: Hello Deer, next to Wondermilk Cafe, Damansara Uptown
Project: Tea Pot Succulent Garden as pictured above
Fee: RM75 per person which includes a tea pot, 5 mini succulent plants, all other materials for planting & light refreshments from Wondermilk Cafe

Mimpi Murni At Hello Deer

The truly awesome folks of Wondermilk have done it again. They’ve outdone themselves. Yet again. Wondermilk now has a brand spanking new space they’ve called Hello Deer, right alongside their Uptown cafe that is open exclusively for events like parties & markets! I’m soooo super excited to be one of the first few vendors to peruse the space during their launch party THIS weekend *clapping hands in glee*

I had the pleasure of seeing the space before renovations were complete & even then, it looked wonderful, I kid you not. Personally, I think this new space is a stroke of genius & I can’t wait to see more exciting things from Wondermilk. Do drop by if you’re free over the weekend & make sure you come over to say hello k? I’ll be there on Saturday only though so be warned ;)

The 7th Cuppacakes Show

Hello dreamers! You better not miss the 7th Cuppacakes Show, I kid you not. I’ll be there with brand spanking new handiwork that you won’t want to miss. Pinky swear. Vote For Me! Cosmo Malaysia FFF

This is a little late but guess who was nominated to be in this year’s Cosmopolitan Malaysia’s Fun, Fearless & Fabulous finalist? Yup, that smiling mug above is yours (chubby) truly. Thank you Naziehah for your nomination & Anida for being so awesome during the photo shoot! I learned that posing without any props whatsoever has got to be one of the most awkward thing ever & that I AM VERY AWKWARD as pictured above & below! :P

My awkwardness aside, Cosmopolitan Malaysia does this FFF competition annually by compiling 12 inspiring women from all walks of life who embody fun, fearlessness & fabulousity (to borrow a term from Kimora). I feel so very honored to be nominated alongside such impressive women who are at the top of their chosen careers, not to mention a little intimidated! Although being called a “craft activist” is pretty awesome & I loved it when Anida asked me what do I think makes a woman awesome (the ability to love, dream big, create adventures & a great sense of humor of course!). I’m grinning from ear to ear as I type this by the way. Hehehe.

This Saturday promises to be a barrel of fun for KL-ites as 3 markets (Chic POP Street Market, Crafty Art Market & Bettr Weekends Market) are merged into one massive shopping-fest with 100 booths selling everything from stylish clothes & handcrafted knick-knacks to organic bread. And to make things even more awesome, there’s a Swap Party where you can shop without spending a cent & of course, the Craft Party yours truly is pulling together. Wheeeee!

Craft Party #4 at Chic POP!

As you all know, I've been organising Craft Parties every now then but this time I'm so excited to be working with the fashionistas of Chic POP to bring you a special craft party right in the middle of the upcoming Markets@JayaOne! Since Chic POP is one of KL's major fashion event, we'll be working on refashioning t-shirts just like we did at Craft Party #3 so those of you who missed out the first time around, make sure you register now! That Last Slice x Mimpi Murni Collaboration!

 
That’s right folks! I teamed up with cake maven Aishah of That Last Slice to come up with a sweet little something especially for this festive season: sugar cookies with customised Selamat Hari Raya messages packed in a fabric box & topped with a grosgrain ribbon!

Aishah is well-known in KL for her yummy cakes so when she approached me late last month before Ramadhan to help her come up with a packaging for her specially made, limited edition cookies, I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I am after all a dessert maniac so this is like my dream project!




The sugar cookies are made with the best quality ingredients & customized with Selamat Hari Raya messages in assorted colors & in two different shapes. There are heart shaped cookies in bright happy colors with the message “Salam Aidilfitri” & scalloped rectangular cookies in sweet pastel colors with the message “Selamat Hari Raya.” I can attest to the fact that these cookies not only look good but are very, very yummy as are all of Aishah’s delectable creations!

In all honesty, it took me a good long while to come up with this idea to make the fabric box packaging. I wanted something that was useful yet looked just as good as Aishah’s cookies so it took quite a bit of trial & error before these boxes were made. They are made with two layers of Japanese cotton fabric & are reversible. You can fold down the top of the boxes to any height you want & as they are soft, they can hold almost any shape of items. I’ve made a bunch of these boxes for myself to hold my little trinkets & bits and bobs around my house so I find them exceedingly useful as I hope you will too :)

Looks like this week I'm going to be busier than usual with last minute Raya orders, so I'm going to hunker down & bulldoze ahead. Till then, I hope you guys can bear with me. I'll blog when I can but I promise I will be back real soon.

The picture above was from a couple of nights ago when the husband broke into his secret (albeit illegal) stash of fireworks. We can't wait to spend our first Raya together as husband & wife as we even have color coordinated baju kurung & baju Melayu!

Mimpi Murni ♥ I.M. Magazine

I seem to be saying this more & more these days, and every time I type these words I tell myself to not let it happen again but eventually my schedule gets crazier & I can’t keep up. So here I am again saying, sorry for leaving you hanging folks! Raya is getting closer & more custom orders are coming in so I’ll try to blog when I can. I really miss surfing the internet, looking for interesting things to share & spreading more love for all things beautiful & crafty.
