Heirloom Cake Topper
Whipped up by the crafty ladies of Posh Paperie, this DIY cake topper is something I’d love to do for my wedding (are you bored of the word “wedding” already? Hehe) but can be easily modified for a different occasion or theme. Not only is there a handy tutorial for the cake topper but there’s a tutorial of how to make the ruffle cake thanks to Melody of My Sweet & Saucy (yay!).

Quotable Cake Topper
I just love this cake topper I spotted while blog shopping. The quote is French, by philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau which reads, “Aimer et être aimé sera la grande affaire de toute notre vie” & translates “To love and be loved will be the greatest event in our lives.” I’d love to have something similar at my wedding coming soon (so soon in fact, I’m on constant panic mode now). Here’s the tutorial & free download.

Hel-looOooOooooooo?
Sorry for going MIA on you folks. We had a low key Valentine’s day but a crazy week, taking the public holiday on Tuesday & his leave on Wednesday as an opportunity to get a whole lot of things done: mandatory HIV test for our marriage cert (government run clinics are so s…l…o…w so after a futile wait at one, we skipped off to a military hospital & had it done in less than 20 minutes), running around buying our wedding hantarans, appointments with different wedding vendors PLUS a trip to Bangkok with my girlfriend Mimi over the weekend (my second time there this month btw)! Can you say, “wheeeeeeeeeeww”? We still have so much to do & I’m running on panic mode now but I’m so glad to took the time to jalan-jalan with my girlfriend otherwise I would’ve gone completely nuts. Thank you Mimi for being there for me!
Anyways, the photo strip of Bobby & I on the left was taken on Valentine’s day with my iPhone & PocketBooth app. You should check out the app if you have an iPhone… it’s 99 cents well spent for the amount of fun you’ll have with it in my humble opinion.
So, how was your week?

Finders Keepers Project
Vancouver-based artist, Jasna Sokolovic made 200 ceramic hearts & will be dispersing them all over Granville Island this upcoming Valentine's Day weekend. So if you’re in the area & you find one, you can take it, keep it for yourself or give it to someone who will cherish the love. Don’t you just love that idea? I do. It’s totally something I’d love to be a part of!

I Carry Your Heart With Me
e.e.cumming’s “i carry your heart with me” never fails to set my heart a-flutter. It’s a beautifully touching poem & Satsuma Press came up with this letterpress version that would be perfect for your loved one this coming Valentine’s Day.
Here’s the poem in full…
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Bunny Year! Yay!
Happy Chinese New Year folks! It’s the year of the bunny & the year I end my singledom thus making this the last year I’ll be receiving ang pows. I’m drowning my sorrows with pineapple tarts, baby mandrin oranges & spending the last of my ang pow playing Cho Dai Di with my cousins (to hopefully generate more money! Hehehe). Anyways, hope you’re having a great break wherever you are & whomever you’re with. Ang pow lai lai!

Book Rest Lamp
This is the most perfect lamp IMHO.
“Whilst you're all tucked up in bed reading your favourite fairy-tale, horror story, glamour model biography you can read to the glow of this clever and uncomplicated lamp. Made of frosted glass it gives off a soft light, ideal to read to but also doubles as a book rest ensuring you never lose your page. But this is no ordinary run-of-the-mill book stand, sit your favourite book on top of the lamp and look! You've made a house! It's just one of those simple design gems that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.”
Get it here if you’d like to buy it & if you have a spare $100 laying around.

Natalie Portman for Black Swan
If you haven’t already seen Black Swan, go see it. Now. It’s a beautiful & haunting movie about a prima ballerina played by Natalie Portman. I think she’s just ethereal in the movie & soon, I bet you’ll see ballet-inspired fashion invade the runways & streets. Anyways, my interest in Natalie Portman began waaaay back when I first saw her in Léon opposite Jean Reno & was piqued further when my buddy in college professed his undying love for her. Now with this movie, I too profess my undying love for Ms Portman.
These images above are from the January 2011 US Vogue issue & check out this video for the behind the scenes shots of the photoshoot.
