Vote For Me! Cosmo Malaysia FFF

This is a little late but guess who was nominated to be in this year’s Cosmopolitan Malaysia’s Fun, Fearless & Fabulous finalist? Yup, that smiling mug above is yours (chubby) truly. Thank you Naziehah for your nomination & Anida for being so awesome during the photo shoot! I learned that posing without any props whatsoever has got to be one of the most awkward thing ever & that I AM VERY AWKWARD as pictured above & below! :P

My awkwardness aside, Cosmopolitan Malaysia does this FFF competition annually by compiling 12 inspiring women from all walks of life who embody fun, fearlessness & fabulousity (to borrow a term from Kimora). I feel so very honored to be nominated alongside such impressive women who are at the top of their chosen careers, not to mention a little intimidated! Although being called a “craft activist” is pretty awesome & I loved it when Anida asked me what do I think makes a woman awesome (the ability to love, dream big, create adventures & a great sense of humor of course!). I’m grinning from ear to ear as I type this by the way. Hehehe.

2012 Calendar Round-Up

This is serious. Every year around this time I go on a calendar hunt. You’d think a calendar is a pretty simple thing to get right? Not for me because I need a calendar that I can proudly hang up in my craft room so it must be handmade, unique & because I’m a sucker for memorabilia, it has to last a lifetime so quality is important. Update: I've made up my mind & I'm going to go for the Lisa Rupp calendar. I got one from her last year & loved it so much (in fact, I still love it) that I think I want to start a little tradition. Bad news though... the calendar design I want is currently out of stock till after Christmas, so I'll be stalking Lisa's Etsy page till it's back! Sigh, the things I do for a nice calendar.

Craft Party #4 Pictures

Thanks to everyone who came & partied with us at Craft Party #4. Nisa, Afzan, Domino, Aini, Irene, Aleena, Cheryl, Cheryne, Sufi, Samantha & a few walk-ins whose names I can’t remember now, I hope you had as much fun as I did & I can’t wait to see you guys rocking your “new” refashioned tshirts! If you've noticed the blog has been getting more & more quiet lately. It's mainly because I'm in the midst of working on decorating an event which is happening next week + another side project that's near & dear to my heart. You'll hear more about it when the time comes ;)

Ni Hao Shanghai

Wonder why the blog has been so quiet lately? Well, at the last minute my hubby said I could follow him on his conference trip to Shanghai, so what followed was a whirlwind of activities to get ready. Getting my visa sorted, shopping for warm clothing, making sure our cat would be well cared for & finishing outstanding orders all within a short time span. By the time our ride to the airport rolled into the driveway, I was really ready for a holiday!

All in all, I LOVED Shanghai. I’ve been to Beijing & was expecting that same chaotic, overwhelming experience, with lots of difficulty getting around but was pleasantly surprised that Shanghai feels a lot like being in Europe & we had no problems getting cabs & communicating with the locals.

Anyways, this is just going to be a short post as I have lots of work & emails to catch up with plus an event or two to get ready for, but I’ll be back soon with more pictures to share (along with the Chic POP Craft Party pictures). Have a great week my lovelies!

Don’t Miss The Markets @ Jaya One!

This Saturday promises to be a barrel of fun for KL-ites as 3 markets (Chic POP Street Market, Crafty Art Market & Bettr Weekends Market) are merged into one massive shopping-fest with 100 booths selling everything from stylish clothes & handcrafted knick-knacks to organic bread. And to make things even more awesome, there’s a Swap Party where you can shop without spending a cent & of course, the Craft Party yours truly is pulling together. Wheeeee!

So, I’ll be seeing you this Saturday? ;)

Lullatone

This has got to be the cutest album I’ve laid my ears on in a good long while. As described by Wikipedia: “Lullatone is a popular music group based in Nagoya, Japan, whose music is characterized by an innocent, child-like quality and spare, lo-fi sounds. Although the group refers to their style of music as "pajama-pop", it is commonly included in such musical subgenres as Twee pop, Indie pop and Electronica. It draws influence from such diverse sources as Bossa Nova, French pop music of the 1960s, children's songs and Musique concrète.”

From what I’ve heard so far, it’s all instrumental but so delightful that I think this music would be lovely playing in the background while crafting. With tracks titled “finding a leaf in your girlfriend's hair” & “riding a bike down a big hill and taking your feet off of the pedals” how can you not be delighted? Craft Party #4 at Chic POP!

As you all know, I've been organising Craft Parties every now then but this time I'm so excited to be working with the fashionistas of Chic POP to bring you a special craft party right in the middle of the upcoming Markets@JayaOne! Since Chic POP is one of KL's major fashion event, we'll be working on refashioning t-shirts just like we did at Craft Party #3 so those of you who missed out the first time around, make sure you register now! DIY: Chalkboard Storage Jars

I started cooking regularly (like 3 - 4 times a week) & have lots of little plastic packets of various spices lying around. This simple yet handy DIY chalkboard storage jars would be perfect for my purposes & I thought I’d share with you lovely folks as you can use them not only for spices & tea as pictured above but candy, cookies & even non-edible items like hairclips. Just label with chalk & if you want to change the contents, just wipe the old written label away! Handy.
