Succulents For Sale!

I was making a few samples of potted succulent gardens for this Saturday's Craft Party when it occurred to me that I'll have a heck of a lot of succulents left over at the end of the shindig! So I thought I'd better put these babies up for sale here on the blog & buyers can come pick up at the end of the Craft Party. A stroke of brilliance, if I do say so myself! :P

And so, if you want to place an order, email me at hello (at) mimpimurni (dot) com. Just let me know which piece(s) you're interested in & I'll email you back with availability & total plus my account details for you to proceed with the payment. Yup, full payment upfront is required upon placing an order & the pick up point is at Hello Deer next to Wondermilk Uptown at 4pm. Please be on time as I do not do deliveries & if you miss the 4pm deadline, you'll have to come pick it up in Ampang. Okiedokie? Here are my new babies...

Art With Heart

ArtHeart

In my humble opinion, the ladies of Gin & Jacqie are simply fabulous. Makers of bags that are functional yet stylish & fun, the ladies always seem to come up with some of the most interesting ideas & this latest venture goes to show that they are big hearted as well.

A specially designed Gin & Jacqie bag was launched on 20 June 2012 in conjunction with World Refugee Day & especially in support of refugee children in Malaysia under a fundraising initiative called Art With Heart: A Refugee Art Project. Proceeds from the sales of these bags which feature the artwork of Mary, a 15-year old refugee, will go towards refugee education programmes in Malaysia under the UN Refugee Agency.

Mary's story is especially heart-wrenching: her family had to flee Myanmar due to human rights issues they faced in the country. Mary is an orphan, now living with her grandparents in Malaysia. She lost her mother a few short months ago, & her pain inspires her art. Her art work features bold splashes of vibrant colours with a red heart in the center. “I painted ‘love’,” said Mary. “When my mother passed away, I was so scared, but I know her love is always with me. That makes me happy.”
Tell me that doesn't pull your heart strings? *Sniff*

Please help support this worthy cause by purchasing a bag at either
www.ginjacqie.com or Cziplee (Bangsar) & priced at RM24. 100% of the profits from the sales of the bags will be channelled towards refugee education programmes run by UNHCR to benefit refugee children in Malaysia. For more information, visit the UNHCR’s website.

Street Art Paris

Leo & Pipo are two street artists based in Paris who have pasted a series of vintage portraits to walls around the city. In their own words: “Our idea is to place old photographs on a modern background and observe if the combination can create a new meaning.” I find the juxtaposition of it all fascinating yet a little eerie, what about you? Read more about this street-art duo in an interview at Street Art Paris.

DIY: Embroidery

Just found this wonderful series of how-to embroider videos by Kin Community & Jenny Hart of Sublime Stitching on YouTube. It’s great for beginners & for those like me who want to freshen up on the basics. Have a looksee & you might be inspired to pick up embroidery!

Nautical Themed Birthday Party

welcome
I had the best time planning the decor & favors for my favorite 10 year old who just happens to be my little sister! I especially enjoyed it since I was given free reign to do whatever I wanted (within budget of course!) so I gave the birthday girl 3 themes to choose from. Imagine my glee when she chose the nautical theme which is the perfect fit for the pool party & something I’ve been dying to put my own spin on!

I kept things simple with origami paper boats & custom printed sails that I filled with fish biscuits, cupcake flags & polka dot balloons in shades of blue with pops of red as accent. For the kids’ table I placed a galvanised pail filled with blue glass paper to mimic water & placed a paper boat on it as centerpieces, & for the kids’ favors I did candy packs that had a layer of blueberry jelly beans, chocolate marshmallows & fish biscuits plus a small bottle of bubble solution. Everything turned out sweet & simple, just how I like it. Click here for more pictures.

Mimpi Murni At Hello Deer

HD-market-poster

The truly awesome folks of Wondermilk have done it again. They’ve outdone themselves. Yet again. Wondermilk now has a brand spanking new space they’ve called Hello Deer, right alongside their Uptown cafe that is open exclusively for events like parties & markets! I’m soooo super excited to be one of the first few vendors to peruse the space during their launch party THIS weekend *clapping hands in glee*

I had the pleasure of seeing the space before renovations were complete & even then, it looked wonderful, I kid you not. Personally, I think this new space is a stroke of genius & I can’t wait to see more exciting things from Wondermilk. Do drop by if you’re free over the weekend & make sure you come over to say hello k? I’ll be there on Saturday only though so be warned ;)

iPhoneography This Week

iPhone Camera Roll 032 We were in JB for the wedding of my husband’s cousin. Doesn’t she look lovely?

iPhone Camera Roll 075 The mister started a Lamborghini contribution fund at the office. He managed to
collect RM15 in change, a keychain, a dice, a biscuit & best of all, a picture of a
Lamborghini! Our cat doesn’t look impressed but he had fun playing with the dice.

iPhone Camera Roll 086 Hassan the cat making his daily inspection of our floor. He takes his job rather
seriously, I’m afraid.

iPhone Camera Roll 101 My handmade lip balms cooling down before I start labelling them.

iPhone Camera Roll 105 One of the tech rooms at NTV7.

iPhone Camera Roll 109 And finally, I was on NTV7’s Breakfast Show yesterday! Did you catch me? To my left
is the uproariously funny Naz & to my right is the vivacious Satira who are both the
hosts of the show. I had a blast with them & showed them how to make an earring
(while shaking quite bad though ahahaha!).
