Mimpi Murni ♥ Malaysian Women's Weekly

I know I already twittered about this yesterday but to some of you who don't already know, guess who's been featured in the latest Malaysian Women's Weekly? Besides Drew Barrymore that is...

Under the coolest headline too (I have to agree with @melmaureen when she said that although I might just be biased)!

Little ol' me & my jewelry! Quick, go get a copy & flip on over to page 128 & don't forget to take a gander at the other lovely talented ladies featured as well: Jacqueline Ng of Gin & Jacqie bags, Nancy Kua of NancesK lingerie & Mawarni Adam McCalman of Marve Speciality Gift Services.

Needless to say, I'm pleased as punch & I want to say big "Hi Ya!" to those of you who are dropping by this corner of Blogspot via the article. Sorry that most of my designs are sold out right now but I promise you an update is in the works so do join my mailing list on the column to your left for a head's up on the latest update, previews & promos. You won't be dissapointed!

Summertime Market

Don't get me wrong, I love my job (which girl doesn't love playing around with accessories all day in her pajamas?) but if I wasn't doing what I'm doing now I would most probably want to open a fruit stand like The Summertime Market. They only sell fresh, local produce in a repurposed 1930s gas station. Vintage lovin' at its best folks!

Those I Met & Liked

This colorful & witty series of notebooks by Archie Grand had me chuckling. Click on the image above to read the spines if you can't see it clearly. My faves are "Brats I've Met & Liked" & "Husbands I've Had & Liked." It'd make a really good title for a book don't you think?

Vanessa Bruno Le Film

This is one simple yet hauntingly lovely video accompanied by music of Vanessa Bruno entitled Le Film. I especially love the part almost towards the end when she's holding up the mirror. Hope you like it. Oh, and happy Monday all!

Despite the shocking news, it makes me happy to think that there are still moments like this we can hope for.

45 Minutes Can Change Everything

If you've been following this blog or my notes over at FaceBook you'd realise that yesterday was the first time I left my humble little abode on the WWW unattended without a post to share. It felt quite strange & I was thinking of all sorts of lovely stuff over the Raya weekend that I wanted to blog about today but something happened yesterday to erase all thoughts of Raya goodies, DIY tutorials, recipes & retail theraphy.

On Sunday night the man & I were at a couple's home whom we consider dear, dear friends for a late night, extended open house. Not 3 hours after we left this scene of merriment still in full swing, the said couple lost a huge chunk of their lives in a mere 45 minutes as flames consumed the top half of their home due to what is believed to be faulty electrical wiring.

Luckily no one was hurt but you can imagine the state of shock everyone is in not to mention how deeply saddened the affected couple must be feeling. It felt so surreal when we walked through the house yesterday to help them move out the pieces of their lives that survived the fire as we were all in the same spot only mere hours ago laughing & enjoying each other's company.

Despite it all, the affected couple still found the strength to count their blessings & the grace to be such wonderful hosts to the crowd of people who came to help them out & that is truly inspiring. My thoughts & prayers goes out to them & I hope they know that they can count on Bobby & me to help however & whenever they may need it.

* The affected couple will remain nameless out of respect for their privacy. If you know who they are, please refrain from calling them the next couple of days as they need time to themselves. Thanks for understanding.

Selamat Hari Raya

Hey folks, thought I'd get a jump on wishing all of you a Selamat Hari Raya, maaf zahir batin & happy holidays! The Mimpi Ramadhan Sale ends today by the way and now I really need a couple of days for myself so I'll be away from the blog till the 23rd of September but I promise I'll be back with more exciting designs & blog posts. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to stuffing myself silly with cookies & lemang. Take care all & drive safe! XOXO

Blueberry Crumble Bars

I made a batch of these Blueberry Crumble Bars & I'm really, truly hooked. They're super simple to make even for a novice baker such as yours truly & oh-so-yummy! My only recommendation is that you add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch or tapioca flour to the blueberry mix if you're going to use frozen berries otherwise they'll come out pretty watery & if you're like me who loves a crusty crust, prebake the bottom layer for about 5 mins before you layer it with the blueberries. Serve your freshly baked bars with vanilla ice cream & trust me, you're gonna love it! Hmmm I might just whip up a batch of these for buka with the folks today if I have time to stop by Cold Storage a little later but I'll definitely make some for Hari Raya. By the way, I can't believe Raya is just round the corner! Can you?

A Day At Studio Choo

Just reading about a typical day behind the scenes at Studio Choo had me dreaming of starting a little flower studio of my own. I love receiving flowers & I also love coming up with my own pretty & unique arrangements but a gal can only concentrate on one dream at a time & right now, I'm still in love with jewelry making.... but a gal can still dream.

DIY Notebook Lunchbag

It's a new school term over in the States so there are heaps of back to school crafts hanging around blogosphere. Here's a clever one I picked up that I'm sure you'll love too regardless if you're in school or a working gal (or guy) who totes your own lunch. Full tutorial here.

Early Bird

I want this Early Bird Alarm Clock. The man & I desperately need an alarm clock to wake us up in the mornings as we've been depending on our handphones to do so with little to no effect! And this little birdie wake up call actually chirps & lights up to simulate the morning sun!! I. Want. It. Now.

Adorableness

Ok, I admit it, I find these kind of things adorable & highly entertaining. I could've watched this video over & over again but only stopped after the 11th time. Yeah, seriously.

P/S: I loved it when the puppy suddenly stopped & seemed to contemplate it's adorableness.... I want a puppy now!

Get Excited & Make Things

I spotted this on Blah, Blah, Blahg & just knew you kind folks would love this free poster designed by Moleitau so I just had to share it with you! Reminiscent of the Keep Calm & Carry On poster, this little spin off speaks true to my heart. I already printed the dijon one for myself. What color would you choose? Download your fave colors here.

You know how I much I love Papercut art? Well, here's something you can purchase to make your own, fool proof piece of Papercut art - on printed patterns! The Kingdom Animalia

I would love to have these series of Kingdom Animalia by EnormousChampion lining my shelf. The subtle use of color on the side gives it an unexpected detail & I love unexpected details. However, bad news for you mommies & daddies out there. These are not meant for kids but are made for decoration as wall art or static objects. Period.

I want the fawn, rabbit & squirrel. And maybe the giraffe, kangaroo & hippo (you can see the full range here on page 6). What about you?

Forgotten Details

Thought I'd share with you some pictures of these really pretty packaging ideas found over at Oh Hello Friend as part of their contribution to Utterly Engaged's Forgotten Details edition. UE is a relatively new e-zine that focuses on weddings & is packed with all sorts of DIY ideas which I'm sure you'll love. I'm particularly bowled over by the use of crocheted lace & doillies in these packaging. So pretty!

Clever Nettle

My, oh my. Aren't these vintage dresses over at Clever Nettle just to die for? And I love the clever paper cut background too (which, admittedly, was the first thing that drew my eye till I looked at the dresses). Here are some of my favourite pieces which sadly have all been sold. Look at the raindrop dress above & the ruffled dress below! The girls who bought it are lucky girls indeed. I'm so stalking this site from now on.

Mendiants

These delightful chocolate morsels or mendiants as they're called in French, not only look chic but they're so easy to make! Just melt down some dark chocolate (or milk chocolate if you like), pour into round silicon molds then artfully place your choice of topping, let cool & you're done! More info here. I'm tempted to try making some after breaking fast later. I'll let you know how they turned out ;)

DIY Terrarium

Terrariums are all over the blogosphere & I've done my fair share blogging about them too but never did get around to making one for myself. However, when I stumbled onto this Found Terrarium tutorial over at Design*Sponge it was so simple & doesn't require any purchases to be made that I wonder why I didn't think of it earlier! I've lots of moss around my house + weeds & empty jars aplenty so this project should be a cinch. Can't wait!

Here's the tutorial if you want to try it out yourself.

Saipua

I'm so in love with the design of Saipua's store in Brooklyn especially all the little nooks & crannies & seemingly mish mash of found objects.

Saipua is a little family-run operation that produces olive oil based soap & for the heck of it, they've started making flower arrangements for weddings & special occasions - that would explain the profusion of flowers in this charming little shop.

Mimpi ♥ No Plastic Bag Bazaar

I know, I know. I'm a little late posting this but I'm operating on slow mo during fasting month so bear with me ya? Anyways, here's one (or two) obligatory pictures of my table at the No Plastic Bag Bazaar. Thanks for the pics Farhan dear!

Obligatory cheesy grin

Stolen off Tongue In Chic's review about the event & they were kind enough to mention Mimpi. Yay!

I had a really nice table out front & really, really nice table partners (HI Liyana & Ira!) who were selling their second hand stuff including a complete, hardly used Pictionary board (which I snagged for a mere RM20) & Liyana's lovely genuine designer bags (imagine a Coach bag for a teeny tiny fraction of its orginial price).

I also got me some homemade soap from Kinder Soaps, homemade body lotion from WeAreUltra & a book from a lovely lady who's based on Ebay (can't find the info right now but I'll be sure to update this when I find it). At the end of the day I was pretty much spent from trying to focus on my stall as there were just waaaay too many distractions (shopping, celebrities & fun activities) although it was really awesome meeting some of you who have been following this little ol' blog! That always makes my day :)

Well, I had fun & I can't wait for the next event! Till then, XOXO.
