With Christmas Coming Soon....

Thought it'd be nice to decorate my table with some DIY Christmas ornaments for some upcoming events so I did some sleuthing at all my favorite blogs & found this simple yet awesome tutorial for Stacking Christmas Trees over at The Small Object. They're originally made with fabric & interfacing but I think they'd be great made with scrap paper too & spruced up with some sequins & ribbons. I can so imagine these trees gracing someone's table for Christmas dinner. Happy crafting!

Ann Wood's Birds

How adorable are these handmade bride & groom bird cake toppers? I'll tell you how adorable: GOSH DARN ADORABLE that's how! Oh, and look! A little Country Girl bird too! Ann Wood is the crafty maven behind these adorable birdies & I'm in lust, I swear (with the birds not her lah!). Check out her blog too as that's where she unveils her new designs before she puts it up for sale. I'm going to go stalk it now.

My Weekend

Saturday was spent at UoX where I had a blast! Thanks to those that came by & tried to pronounce the magic word. Good try people! Now, go watch Mary Poppins! I'm shocked so many of you haven't seen it or remember it. Tsk!

My new table set up. At least now you can see yourself with the mirror set at eye level!

The new cross stitch sign I made the night before. I think I better point out that the flowers are actually earrings lest anyone out there thinks I have mad cross stitching skills! (Which I don't)

Kudos to Dee of Threadszoo for flawlessly planning everything. She even sent the traders checklists, maps, layouts, the works! I truly appreciate all the info... the more, the better I say when it comes to these sort of events. Needless to say, I was well-prepared for the on-slaught of people that came to CapSquare to party & shop. Event though I had to cut my time at UoX short, I was dead on my feet & only too happy to crash into bed that night.

Ah, but then.... Sunday, glorious Sunday!

I was up at the crack of dawn with the bf & his buddies for this view. Believe it or not but this is in Ampang!!

Small possibilities. I love this little boy's bright yellow shorts & enthusiasm to match! His constant excited chatter scared off the fishes though but he wasn't too dissapointed as far as I could tell. Boy, isn't it great being a kid?

Boys & their toys (well, ok some kids never quite grow up!). The bf is in the middle flanked by his buds.

Last shot of the morning. The mist was starting to clear up & the sun was just about ready to peek out from under those clouds.

And no expedition no matter how short is complete without trying out a new place to makan and thanks to Shazli who was the one leading us the entire way, we had the best nasi lemak EVER. I judge nasi lemak based on the rice & this nasi was the lemak-est I've every had, hand's down!. I didn't manage to take a snap shot of the nasi lemak though. We were hungry. Enough said.

With our bellies full, the bf & I then spent the rest of the morning & afternoon at the dive pool operated by Kembara Dive Centre in Bandar Tun Razak where we got to mess around & play shark under the pretense of practising our buoyancy for scuba diving. I worked on evening out my tan too to no avail. I now have dive sock tan lines. Sheesh!

This shot was taken a week before our Tioman trip last month. I was wearing a wet suit cos the water in the pool was freezing! Can you see how blue my lips are?!?

Later that night we went to our friend's little do at The Lodge to celebrate their anniversary & the wife's birthday. They're one of the sweetest couple I know, all goodness & sincerity. Happy Anniversary Jocelyn & Mail + Happy Birthday Jocelyn! The pictures from the party will be up as soon as I can smuggle the camera back from the bf. It's pretty hilarious what people will do when they're in need of a little entertainment. Pictures soon!

After a pretty exhausting 2 days, I capped it off with finally picking up the sequel to Twilight which I blogged about obsessing here. Although I was really really pooped, I was up till about 3am reading New Moon! The things people do for their addiction.

So, how was your weekend?

Beautiful Morning

Just had to take a picture of the beautiful morning we're having here in KL... so far. It seems that it's been raining all day, every day lately doesn't it? Hopefully this peek of clear blue skies & greenery will cheer someone up especially those stuck in the office.

Oh yeah, and don't forget to come to the UoX Blockparty happening tomorrow at CapSquare from 1pm onwards! Mimpi will be there with 20% discount for all XPax users & what if you're not an XPax user? Just say the magic word SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALODOCIOUS & you'll get the discount too (applies only at the Blockparty)! Now go practice your pronounciation ;)

More info on the Blockparty at KLue.

The Little Happy Shop

Found this lovely Little Girl Mug designed by Shinzi Katoh on The Little Happyshop which is a great online shop based in neighboring Singapore that carries all sorts of cuteness, from kitchen ware to bags. Anyways, I love the little girls in the red cloak & hood. Reminds me of a certain fairy tale...

20 Questions Episode #9

In the whirlwind that is my life, I spaced out & forgot that my episode on 20 Questions came out yesterday! Thanks to Mia for pointing it out! I can finally breath a sigh of relief.... I didn't make a fool of myself but I'm left to wonder: do I really sound like that?!? In my head I sound a whole lot more uh, cooler. Hehehe.

Anyhoo, watch the episode & stand a chance to win this week's goodie bag (a necklace from Mimpi!). Click here & be the 20th person to send in the correct answer to this episode's question (hint: look up at my banner). Don't forget to include your full name, contact number and address as well as your answer!

The Erina necklace you stand a chance of winning. Watch the episode & answer the super simple question!

Like I mentioned before in this post, I had a whole lot of fun on the show & I hope it shines through (ignore my bumbling answers though). The guys behind it are awesome & I can't thank them enough for the opportunity. A big THANK YOU to Mia Palencia, Hardesh Singh, Adam William, Joel Loi & David Yeow.

P/S: I'd like to amend my answer for the best movie I've seen this year please! It's definitely Across the Universe. Although Crash is a great movie, the only reason I spitted it out was because all I was thinking at that point was, "Oh no, crash & burn! Crash & buuuuurrnnn!"

Make Your Own Notebook

Saw this brilliant idea on Design*Sponge (yes, I read it almost everyday): Eco-Friendly Notebooks! What's so eco-friendly about it? Well, first of all the pages in the notebooks are made with discarded sheets of A4 paper printed on one side (you know the type that piles up in the office). And what's so brilliant about this not very earth shattering idea? Well, the discarded paper is folded in half with the clean side facing out. That way you get a clean sheet with extra thickness (great for sketching design ideas) and you save the environment from further waste! Slap on some nice vintage paper on cardboard for the covers, add binding (for something like RM1.60 at the local stationery shop) & there you have it, your own notebook! I don't know why I didn't think of it before?!? Instructions here.

Twilight

Oh, god. I should have known better.

I finally picked up Twilight out of curiosity during an errand run yesterday since I've been hearing quite a lot of hype about it with the movie coming out soon. I'm definitely one of those people who always likes the book better than the movie adaptation plus hey, the paperback book was cheap in it's billionth publication so I thought, no harm right? Boy, was I wrong. I was hooked right from the very first chapter. No, more like addicted.

"Hi, my name is Murni & I'm addicted to a love story between a vampire & a teenage girl."

Heh.

The sad thing is (no, not that a so-called-adult is reading a teen novel), I have a mountain of work so the only time I get to read is right before bed time. Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep last night. I crawled out of bed this morning after finishing the entire thing in 14 hours straight & as soon as I'm done with getting some large orders out of the door, I'm going to run off & get the sequel. In all honesty, it's taking quite a lot of restraint for me not to run off right now to get it. Sigh... I was like this when I started reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles back when I was 16. Darn those vampires!

The Classics

Spotted this over at Design*Sponge. It seems Peguin Classics will be releasing a 10 book series with these specially printed vintage inspired covers in a matte foil design. Don't they look gorgeous? I see 4 of my all-time favorite titles there & well, I've been meaning to read the rest. I'm hoping they'll release it here in Malaysia soon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any info on the Peguin Classics website so I guess I'll just have to pop by Borders or Kinokuniya to try my luck. If anyone spots these babies out there do let me know.

:: update ::
After a bit of sleuthing, I found out that the books are a Waterstone's Exclusive and will only be distributed in the UK for now. Click here if you'd like to purchase the book from Waterstone directly.

20 Questions

Boy, am I glad I finally get to update this blog with my new designs! It's been ages since I last did (10 Oct!!!!) & I was getting almost daily emails & smses....

"Murni, when are you going to update?"
"Will you be updating soon?"
"Please let me know as soon as you've updated your blog"

I love your persistence ladies! Hahaha :P

Oh, I have to poin
t out as well that I will longer be taking orders via SMS as it's really hard to keep track of orders that way plus some people actually text me late at night WHILE I'M SLEEPING! Come on folks, I know the customer is always right but please have a little consideration for the seller eh?

On another note, I was invited to be on the 20 Questions show last night! Produced by Mia Palencia under the Pop Folio umbrella & hosted by the wickedly funny duo, David Yeow & Joel Loi, it's an online show geared towards inspiring youths. I was honored to be asked in the first place & I had so much fun with the hosts that the whole experience turned out to be virtually painless even though I KNOW I fumbled on a question or two (or three or four).

My episode will be out in 2 - 3 weeks & if you tune in, you might be able to win a free necklace from me! New episodes are out every Wednesday so don't miss it k? Get more info on the 20 Questions show here. Do check it out as it's such a great show & the people behind it (hey ya, Adam, Hardesh, Joel, David & Mia!) are genuinely passionate & are such inspiring people themselves. Plus, they all get bonus points for being very funny & super nice. Oh, and I got an awesome goodie bag too!
